About That Coffee

Who doesn’t enjoy a good cup of coffee in the morning (or anytime!)? The problem comes when a good cup of coffee costs you more than a gallon of gas.

Seriously. Have you ever made that particular comparison?

Good news, coffee lovers! You can make lovely, delicious coffee-shop quality coffee at home – without investing in fancy equipment.

Obviously, you have to start with good coffee. This is what I used this morning – and no, I’m not being paid to say so. It’s simply the smoothest, deepest, most velvety coffee I’ve ever had.

Now, I like lattes, so that’s what I always make. You just need your hot brewed coffee, some milk, whatever sweetener you like and an airtight container that holds at least one cup. More on that soon.

Leave plenty of room in your coffee cup for the frothed milk – at least 2 inches is best.

It’s important to stir in your sweetener before you add the milk, so do that now.

Ready to froth some milk?

You can find this elsewhere on the Internet (just so we’re clear, I’m not claiming to have invented it). It’s a super-cool way to get foamy, steamy milk on top of your coffee.

Get a container with a lid that seals. A glass jar or a plastic bottle works nicely. Pour in about ½ cup of milk.

Now put the lid on and shake it. I mean, turn on your favorite Taylor Swift song and shake it. Your milk should at least double in volume.

Pop the foamy milk in the microwave for 20-30 seconds, then pour into your coffee.

If you really need the calories, top with whipped cream and drizzle with a flavored syrup!

I’ve never tried this with almond, coconut or soy milk. If you do, please post your results in the comments!
