Or, unsnarling the tangle (of hair accessories)
I did a thing.
So, it started with the headbands. My daughter has single-use headbands. Never heard of them? That’s because she made them up!
- Buy new headband.
- Wear the headband.
- Take the headband off.
- Drop it on the floor!
- Step on the headband. When you hear the “snap”, it’s perfect.
Voila! A completely useless, vaguely headband-shaped piece of trash!
Pinterest told me that I could make something like this:
So far so good. Just an oat-carton-shaped container with some decorative tape.
But then I noticed headbands weren’t the only thing I was buying over and over again. Ponytail holders and clips / barrettes / bobby pins were also discarded on the floor to never be seen or used again.
So I got out some acrylic paint and a few thrift store finds and got to work.
The dots are made with a cotton swab. Easy, even for artistically-challenged me.
I used hot glue to help hold the thumb tacks and string in place.
Now I just need to figure out how to make sure the hair stuff ends up on/in these organizers, because the next day I stepped on another headband.
Le sigh.
